I know Jaime and Darrel are anxiously awaiting for these pictures, so I thought that I would give them and their friends a little peek at what is to come!! These pictures are ssooo good. I am proud of them… I love them. I won’t talk too much today (I have lots more to edit). So here ya’ go….. Just a little taste of what’s to come!!

New Orleans Part two

So continuing on from yesterday’s post, I was in New Orleans this past week. On wednesday I was lucky enough to get into one of the shooting workshops that was offered at the conference. This particular shooting workshop was with the McLellans. They are a couple, who both love photography and their work is awesome!! They were nice enough to take 25 photographers out shooting and made themselves available to anyone with questions. This was great for me because I am a hands-on learner. Out of the just 2 short hours that we were out and about, I learned a lot. I am so excited about these pictures and I am keeping this post short because I am going to be sharing quite a few pictures… So on that note here ya go!! Enjoy!

New Orleans Part one

This past week I had the awesome AWESOME chance to go down to New Orleans for the Pictage PartnerCon. This is a yearly conference for photographers, usually held in Los Angeles but this year it was in New Orleans. This conference gives the chance to all photographers to meet new friends, attend seminars, and partake in a shooting workshop. This was an amazing trip and I am so thankful that I was able to go.

The first seminar that I went to, and the one that had the most Impact on me was held by Jason Aten. His seminar was titled “Starting out right: Top 10 things for the first 2 years”. This seminar was packed full of information that I will be putting into my business. From networking, to contracts, to keeping those relationships with everyone I encounter, it was all amazing!! Just Amazing!!

The rest of the seminars I attended were all great. My goal is to take at least one thing from each seminar and apply it to my business or my shooting process. I found that coming out of this conference I am a slightly different person. Smarter maybe? Or more confident in what I am doing? One thing for sure, is that I am definitely inspired. That was the theme for the conference. Dream. Create. Inspire. Isn’t that great?? I think so.

Along with attending all of the great seminars and the shooting workshop(which I will be blogging about tomorrow…oooh can’t wait), I managed to meet new people and make some new friends. Friends that are all wonderful and ssooo talented!! A bunch of us went out to dinner the first night in NOLA and we decided on Emeril Lagasse’s restaurant. Appropriately named… NOLA. The food was sssooo good, and they had these awesome Jalapeno Cornbread muffins and rosemary/onion buns…. They were both tiny, and cute! Just enough before the huge meals we all got! Thank you friends for making this experience even better!

Now, on wards with some pictures! The First day I got to NOLA I went out, and I went to Jackson Square. This is a historic park in the french quarter. I got some shots of the cathedral and of course some people along the way…. I’ll tell ya, there are some interesting characters in NOLA, but one thing is for sure, they are all very welcoming!

Sneak Peek: New Orleans!!

Hey Y’all!!! As of right now I am sitting in my hotel room in New Orleans, working on some AWESOME pictures from my shoot today! The last few days that I have been here, I have learned SO much. I am so excited to go home and applying at least one single thing from each and every seminar that I attended. Everyday was filled with meeting new and exciting people, and just taking in all of their knowledge, and their insight into what we photographers love to do. I am not going to write a large post tonight, but I am going to give you guys a little peek at what I have seen and done the last few days! I hope you enjoy these pictures as much as I love looking at them!!

More of Jessica & Jon

So, I thought that I would share with you a little more of Jessica and Jon’s Big day, also I would like to share with you what’s been going on lately!

On November 2nd, I will getting on a jet plane and flyin’ down to New Orleans for the Pictage Partner Conference! I am UBER excited and can not wait… It’s only 17 Days away!! EEEKKKK!! I am so excited to meet new people, learn new things and just the experience alone is enough to go! Since the day I saw online that PartnerCon was happening I was hopin’ and a prayin’ that I could go, and luckily enough I am! Some of the many things that I am looking forward to is a few seminar’s by the best in the biz including Mike Colon, Joe Buissink, and Melissa Jill. Also, the hands on workshops that I will be attending are going to give me so much knowledge and insight into what I do it will just help me to become an even better photographer and entrepreneur. To me, going to this conference is almost better (and cheaper) then going to school. I will learn first hand some of the yay’s and nay’s of being in this business.

On a Personal note, my hubby will be coming home for a few months before it’s back to work. No, he is not in the army, he works pipeline and his work requires him to be everywhere except home. So, I and my daughter are excited for him to come home and stay home for a little while. I will be going to Toronto on Sunday to pick up the man. It is always great to see my daughter’s face light up when she sees him walk through the door. She starts to shake and smile and immediately wants to be held and pick-up by him. It will be very interesting to see how the two of them make out while I am in New Orleans. This will be the first time the two of them will be together for an extended time with-out me.

Now, here are a few of my Favorites from Jessica and Jon’s wedding a few weeks back. Enjoy!

It was a pleasure and I wish them a lifetime of happiness!! I will be posting more pics once everything is done, but until then here is a little peek at what’s to come! Enjoy!DPP_0003

Rainy Day

So the other day, it was literally raining cats and dogs. When you have a child, especially a toddler you have to find ways to keep your child entertained.  So what is a parent to do??? Uummmm let’s see….. Let’s bake some cookies!! Yay for cookies!! Now my daughter is definitely becoming a little girl and not a baby anymore. She’s talking more and wanting to do “Big Girl” things, which I love! So, My sister got out the step stool (which I sometimes use for taking pictures) and my daughter got up there and dove right into bakin’ cookies!(or should I say eating them, hehe)

While my sister and daughter baked some cookies, I decided to clean out my pantry. This is something that I have been wanting to do for a while. I have definitely been procrastinating on this task. Needless to say, I got my task completed and boy, let me tell you the room I now have in that pantry is amazing! I forgot that I had that much room in there…. Another thing that crossed my mind while I was cleaning out my pantry was.. I have quite a few hot beverage items! Teas, Coffee, Hot Chocolate, Apple Cider, you name it, I think I got it! But, I do enjoy all of those hot beverages!

On Another note, the WEATHER!! It has been insane!! Uhmm mother nature? Hello? Are you there? I would like to make a request, could you please bring back fall? I am shooting the Briggs/ Moylan wedding tomorrow  and I am praying and hoping that it doesn’t pour rain until we get to the reception site. So we shall see and stay tuned for a sneak peek from tomorrow’s events!

It’s Fall!!

Okay, okay, so I know I have been lazy with blogging lately but these last 2 weeks have been nut-so! Not to mention that my poor Mac has been serviced twice in the last week. First, my screen needed to be re-placed(I guess it didn’t like those x-ray machines at the airports anymore) and then as soon as I got it back, the hard drive quit on me! Needless to say I lost everything(just like Carrie Bradshaw!) No, I didn’t back up my files, so for the last day or so I have been re-building all my files and re-installing all my software! Let this be a lesson to everyone, if you purchase software online… Always pay for the back-up product! I am so glad I did! At, least most of the files that I lost were not the end of the world for me. So, here I am with practically a brand new computer and I am ready to fill all of you in on what else has been going on!

First, my one and only child(or spawn as my sister likes to say) started her first day of daycare! I was excited for her to go. I wanted her to go so she could experience things that I may not be able to give to her. I wanted her to react with other children her age. I wanted her to pick up on some words and speech, something that she is a little behind on. I wanted her to put some of that energy that she has to good use! Needless to say, she is getting all of those things and more! She is talking more(or trying), she is more social, and she is even more open to potty training!! Which is awesome! I can’t wait for her to be outta diapers!! Here is a pic from her first day!

Okay, moving on In the midst of going to Barrie and back, Huntsville and back, Orillia and back, and New York State and back I managed to still be a mom and take my daughter to the Sandhill Nursery in Huntsville(this would be another trip there and back). I didn’t know what to expect, I had never been there. When I received the flyer in the mail about Sandhill Nursery having a storybook gardens theme and Christmas is September I thought… “Why Not?”. So I went up to Canadian Tire purchased a portable DVD for Selah to watch movies while we took the trip. It’s only a one hour car ride, but she hates the car seat. Hence, the DVD player. And off we went. She enjoyed that DVD player(and so did I) it  made the trip ten times easier. We arrived at Sandhill Nursery and they had the nicest displays for Fall. It was so nice! And everyone was very friendly. They had a small barn with a few animals, a giant straw maze, hot dogs to munch on and hot apple cider! The Christmas displays they had were also very pretty!  Everything was so pretty and some of the pictures I got were great! If your looking for something to do in the muskoka area with your family this makes for a nice family outing!

Painter Family

A few days ago I had the distinct pleasure to photograph the Painter family. Jaime and Darrel are good friends of mine and Olivia is such a cutie! They made it very easy for me to do my job. The pictures I got are amazing. Even though it was SUPER bright out! We decided to go to old town beach here in Parry Sound to get the shots, and like I said they turned out great. It didn’t take long before I had 400 frames of the beautiful family, and as you can see they are adding to it. Jaime looks AMAZING!! She is such a beautiful woman, and her eyes are to die for! And, don’t worry Darrel, I haven’t forgot about you either, your eyes are just as awesome! Charlotte is going to be a beautiful baby when she gets here! So on that note I give you the Painter Family!!

Hello world!

Hello World indeed!! This is my very first blog entry, and I have been thinking about doing this for a while. Every where you turn, someone has a blog! I do enjoy reading them, whether it be from a fellow photographer or just a gossip blog(which I highly enjoy). So, here I am world take it or leave it(hopefully you will all take it, and enjoy it!) I don’t really know what to write for my first entry, it’s like standing in front of an audience  with a mike on and just staring into the crowd with a blank expression on my face…aahhh..what do I say?? I guess I could tell you a little bit about my self. I am a aspiring photographer, living and working in Parry Sound, Ontario. I am 24 (soon to be 25) years old and I am married and have a wonderful daughter who is 19 months old. I love photography and I have been doing it as a hobby. People I knew had told me to open up a studio or start my own business, but I just didn’t think that I had what it takes to make it work. Then I had my daughter, and soon after her first birthday I was trying to think of ways that I could have a job that I like and that is flexible. Then it just all of a sudden came to me…I will become a photographer. I do not have a degree or a diploma in photography. But, I like to think that I have an eye for what pops and what makes a good photo. I work hard to make my clients happy. I get such joy and happiness from hearing about how the photos that I have taken for them, have made their day. I am going to make this first entry a short one, I still have to be a mom too! So, on that note I am going to go and feed the shrieking kid who is running through my house…. :):)
